Cam Gallagher & The Tasty Soul is a fresh and prestigious funk collective hailing from Salt Lake City and Nashville. Founded in April 2021 by band leader and lead tenor saxophonist, Cameron Gallagher, this group is one of the most exciting funk bands to emerge from Utah and Tennessee. The Tasty Soul boasts a highly skilled lineup of musicians who have completed their undergraduate and graduate studies in composition and arranging, jazz performance, commercial music performance, and music business at institutions such as The University of Utah, BYU, Snow College, and the esteemed Belmont University.
Despite their youth, every member of the Tasty Souls has an impressive professional music resume. Cam Gallagher takes great care in selecting musicians with strong musical backgrounds and elite, professional experiences. Each member of this collective has toured and performed extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Cuba, and Europe, playing at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals, including the Umbria Jazz Festival, Puerto Vallarta Jazz Festival, and Croatian International Jazz Festival.
What sets Cam Gallagher & The Tasty Soul apart is their impressive collaborations with world-renowned Grammy-nominated and winning musicians such as Wycliffe Gordon, Randy Brecker, and Victor Wooten. They've also performed with notable musicians like Chris Potter, Poncho Sanchez, and Tom "Bones" Malone. Cam Gallagher himself is currently the apprentice of multi-instrumentalist, Grammy Award-winning musician, and Vanderbilt University professor Jeff Coffin.
This young and highly experienced musical cast takes great pride in their unique musical identities, each contributing to the band's signature funky sound.
