Hogan & Moss and The Old Weird America deliver a raw, roots-driven blend of originals and reimagined classics that hit both the heart and the dance floor. Led by Jon Hogan on vocals and Maria Moss on strings, the duo transforms songs from Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, Blaze Foley, the Carter Family, and Johnny Cash into something entirely their own—cowpunk two-steps, swingy minor blues, trancey desert ballads, and psychedelic bluegrass with a gritty, modern edge.
Their name, inspired by Greil Marcus’s iconic book on Dylan (and used with his blessing), hints at what they do best: honoring tradition while bending it into new, unexpected shapes. The result is a sound that’s soulful, high-energy, and unapologetically off the beaten path—built for listeners who like their roots music a little weirder and a lot more alive.
