As a 3rd generation Irish-American, T.J.’s heartfelt and soulful, folk sound was influenced by the iconic Irish ballads of The Clancy Brothers, Wolfe Tones and Luke Kelly. Born Terrence James Gurn in 1995, the Greenville, SC native spent much of his youth immersed in sports, never really picking up a guitar until his early 20’s. Artists and bands like Zach Bryan, and Jason Isbell, Lumineers quickly helped form his own unique sound. T.J.’s raspy yet gritty voice along with his love of family and friends comes through his songwriting especially in his first EP Man Up Above which is an ode to his paternal grandfather “Poppie” , James Gurn. This is his debut offering along with the melodic, Dream Tracks, West Coast Wind and Folly Beach.
