LionFish was formed in 2007 by Derrek Wright as a fresh start following his seven-year stint with Purdymouth. The project debuted with the album Swimming Upstream and spent three years electrifying audiences along the Wasatch Front before making its way to Portland, OR. During its nine-year run in Portland, LionFish honed its sound and built a dedicated following.
In 2019, Derrek returned to Salt Lake City and reformed the band. The current lineup features Georgi Petrov on lead guitar, Anthony Perry on drums, Bear Carrillo on percussion, and Doug Wright on bass. Together, they are finalizing their upcoming record And so it Goes, slated for a late fall release.
Since 2021, LionFish has been a regular presence on the live music scene along the Wasatch Front, performing at venues such as The Cabin, The Garage, Gracies, Lighthouse Lounge, Brewskis, The Notch Pub, Ice Haus, Haglund Ranch, Grid City Music Fest, and more. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the band also launched Tiny Porch, a house venue that has grown into a vibrant community of over 300 loyal fans who frequently attend their shows.
